Zac Buehner got his professional start as a metal fabricator in the summer of 2002 as a traditional blacksmith restoring a historic gate in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. From 2004 to 2015 he worked in a metal shop in western MA, combining traditional and modern fabrication techniques. Since moving to Vietnam in 2016 his practice has expanded to include CNC and laser cutting, and he continues to produce custom commercial and private commissions.

“Burn to Shine” De La Sol - HCMC

This commission, completed in collaboration with The Lab Saigon for the De La Sol exhibition space in 2023, features mirrored stainless steel panels on a spiral staircase heat-treated on both sides to produce a bold, rainbow iridescence. I completed the piece over three weeks, working alone with a giant acetylene flame beneath the intense Vietnamese sun.
